European Parliament Restricts AI on Work Devices

(MENAFN) The European Parliament has chosen to block artificial intelligence (AI) functionalities on devices provided to its members and staff, citing cybersecurity concerns, according to a report by a media outlet on Monday.

Officials explained that AI applications often rely on cloud services to execute tasks, which involves transmitting data to servers located outside the organization. This data handling prompted the Parliament to implement the restriction.

In addition, the Parliament recommended that its members adopt similar security measures for their personal devices, particularly when they are used for work-related activities.

Over the past few years, the EU has been intensifying its data protection policies due to apprehensions about integrating technology from foreign sources.

This move follows a previous decision in 2023, when the European Parliament prohibited the use of TikTok on work-issued devices.
